We are living today in a society with advances in technology we could only dream of in the past. In order to bring wonder and amazement back into your day I will highlight some of the amazing innovations we have made in the past year.

1. The most advanced prosthetic arm made today, by John Hopkins

Until recently, if you lost a limb, the only options for finding a comparable replacement were fairly limited and mostly aesthetic solutions. But that’s changing thanks in part to projects like the DARPA-funded Modular Prosthetic Limb, an advanced robotic arm controlled by thought and developed in part by scientists and engineers at Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory.

2. ReWalk Exoskelton. Giving those who lost their mobility a second chance

ReWalk is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that provides powered hip and knee motion to enable individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) to stand upright, walk, turn, and climb and descend stairs

3. Tobii Eye tracking

Eye tracking is a sensor technology that enables a device to know exactly where your eyes are focused. It determines your presence, attention, focus, drowsiness, consciousness or other mental states. This information can be used to gain deep insights into consumer behavior or to design revolutionary new user interfaces across various devices.

4. Ili – Making travelling easier

All language barriers will soon be a thing of the past; ili has made this possible. To test the waters, this fantastic wearable translator’s developers have focused on seamlessly translating between English, Japanese and Chinese. In the near future, though, other languages such as Korean, French, Arabic, Spanish and Thai are set to be included

5. Welle

Welle is a smart device that instantly turns any surface into a smart controller using embedded Sonar and a highly sensitive touchless gesture control algorithm. It gives you the ability to use simple gestures to control your favorite hardware devices or software applications via Bluetooth.

Does this inspire you to go and create, innovate, and change society? Through innovations such as these we are able to improve the way we live our lives and bring the world together.
